In June of 2006, Cornerstone welcomed its new pastor, Jeff Banks, and his family to Greenfield. Pastor Jeff graduated in May from Dallas Theological Seminary, earning a Master of Theology, with an emphasis in pastoral leadership. Before attending seminary, Jeff spent several years working in Christian radio, then served as the associate and youth pastor of Monument Bible Church in Scottsbluff, NE. Jeff and Dana have been married 14 years and have two sons, Jacob & Brandon. Jeff loves football, golf, dating his wife, and watching his boys in their activities. He has a strong passion for Jesus Christ and the Truth of God's Word, and strives to reflect that in the way he preaches and teaches. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- What We Believe:
1. We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God and the final authority and guide for Christian life and faith. (1 Timothy 3:16)
2. We believe in one God, the Creator of all things, existing eternally in Father, Son and Holy Spirit. (John 1:1-4, Colossians 1:15-17)
3. We believe that Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man, conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He lived a sinless life and died on the cross as a sacrifice for our sins. He rose bodily from the dead and ascended into heaven. (Matthew 1:20-23, Matthew 20:18-19, Hebrews 4:15, 1 Corinthians 5:21)
4. We believe the Holy Spirit makes us aware of our sins and helps us see our need for faith in Jesus Christ. We believe the Holy Spirit indwells those who have received Christ by faith. (2 Corinthians 1:21-22, John 16:7-8, 13-14)
5. We believe that man was created in the image of God, but fell into sin and is therefore lost. (Romans 3:23)
6. We believe that we can receive eternal life not by our own doing but only through believeing in and receiving Jesus Christ as our personal Savior (Ephesians 2:8-9, Romans 6:23)
7. We believe water baptism and the Lord's Supper should be observed, but they are not a means of salvation. (Matthew 28:18-19, Luke 22:17-20)
8. We believe every local church has the right under Christ to decide how to govern its affairs. (Ephesians 2:19-20)
9. We believe in the premillenial coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. (1Thessalonians 4:16)
10. We believe in the bodily resurrection of the dead; of the believers to everlasting life with the Lord; of the unbeliever to judgment and eternal punishment. (1 Thessalonians 4"17, John 3:16)
